    CRYO XC™ Requirements

    Client & Operator Safety are key components for a successful recovery & cryotherapy business.

    That's why we have set out to assist our customers with the implementation of proven safety standards & regulations that create a safe work environment.

    The Facilities

    The basic requirements for cryotherapy facilities and how to find out if your facilities are suitable.

    • The cryogenic chamber must be installed in a sufficiently large room that meets the criteria of accommodating a nitrogen based whole body cryo chamber.
    • The recommended floor area is 160 – 210 ft² / 15 – 20 m².
    • New projects may require an on-site risk-assessment. Especially recommended in confined facilities.
    • In some cases, we may offer an online risk assessment. You will need to fill out a questionnaire followed up with a video conference.
    • Most LN2 suppliers offer risk assessments.

    The Installation

    Physical requirements for transporting the CRYO XC™ into your facilities and making regular deliveries of refilled storage vessels.

    • The CRYO XC™ can be transported into nearly any type of room, thanks to its versatility in the transportable/disassembled form.
    • The CRYO XC™ can pass through doors at a width of 25 inches / 64 cm.

    What needs to be considered within the facilities:

    • Access for/to the nitrogen vessels from the outside or the refilling zone to the vessel storage room.
    • The specific requirements for the system that you have selected.
    • Installing in basements is not recommended and requires additional adjustments.

    The Safety Measures


    The safety measures that ensure that the facilities are safe for operation.

    • The CRYO XC™ uses liquid nitrogen to cool down the air that enters the client cabin, once in use, liquid nitrogen is turned into a gas which can gradually build up in the room if sufficient measures aren’t taken. The release of the gas must be controlled by the cryotherapy chamber as well as other security measures.
    • An opening of a diameter of at least 4 in / 12 cm must be prepared in a wall that will lead outside to exhaust excess nitrogen from the client cabin and room. This exhaust system can also be integrated into a ventilation system.
    • Many locations require the installation of an air inflow system in order to ensure that fresh air is continuously forced into the room. Most commonly, 6 exchanges of air per hour are sufficient to comply with safety standards.
    • An Oxygen sensor must be installed in the room to monitor oxygen saturation. The CRYO XC™ Plus has an oxygen sensor built-in that meets these requirements

    The Operation

    Meeting the safety requirements during operation.

    • As an increased level of nitrogen is released into the air by the cryotherapy chamber, the concentration of oxygen may decrease as a result. Oxygen levels in the room must not drop below 19%.
    • If the oxygen levels drop below this level, there is an increased risk of hypoxia, which in the least serious cases can lead to discomfort in the form of lightheadedness or in more serious cases of exposure can lead to fainting or worse.
    • Safety guidelines during sessions for operators and clients are a part of the training process and all clients will receive a Safety Guideline sheet.
