  • FAQ - Localized Cryotherapy for Users

    What is Localized Cryotherapy?

Localized cryotherapy is the exposure of the human body to hyper-cooled air in targeted areas of the body for the management of pain and inflammation and the application of cryofacials.

    Localized Cryotherapy In Physiotherapy
Localized cryotherapy treatments applied in physiotherapy are used to reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling by constricting blood vessels in a targeted area. This new solution stems from the ancient knowledge of placing cold objects against a treated area of the body for the purpose of local anesthesia alongside other benefits.

Unlike Whole Body Cryotherapy, which aims to expose the entire body to extremely cold temperatures, Spot Cryotherapy is applied in targeted areas of the body and acts as an extremely powerful and efficient ice pack.

Localized cryotherapy for Cryofacials and Beauty
A Cryofacial is a localized cryotherapy treatment using a non-medical and non-invasive technique that uses gentle bursts of pressurized, hyper-cooled air to rapidly lower the surface temperature of the clients skin on both the face and the neck.

The cold temperature instantly causes the skin to tighten, which helps fill in wrinkles and fine lines.

    Is localized cryotherapy safe?

Localized cryotherapy is a safe treatment that only exposes targeted areas of the body to the cold at any given moment which the operator has full control over.
It is also often considered an entry treatment for doing whole body cryotherapy which can help detect if the client has a cold allergy.

The CRYO LC offers several safety features for clients and operators :

    • The laser feature indicates the ideal distance between the nozzle and the clients skin surface.
    • The temperature indicator shows the temperature on the clients skin surface and signals when to move the handle.

How many Localized Cryotherapy sessions can a client do in one day?

There are no limits to the number of sessions per day, but a single area of the body can only be treated once every 12 hours and is limited to physiotherapeutic applications.

Beauty treatments for a specific area should be at least 24 hours apart.

How long can a localized cryotherapy session last?

Localized cryotherapy is subject to the clients level of comfort and the operators limits on session duration. The main limitation for a localized cryo session itself is not overexposing a single area.

A localized cryotherapy session generally lasts between 5 to 10 minutes.

Does the client need to do anything to prepare for a CryoFacial?

No special preparation is needed prior to arriving for a spot cryotherapy session.

However, clients are highly advised not to apply any lotion or moisturizer on their skin at least 12 hours before a session, or to have any moisture on their skin or come in with wet hair.

Makeup does not need be removed before a cryofacial.

Who should not use Localized Cryotherapy?

Persons with Cryoglobulinemia, cold hemagululation or cold hemolysis, cold-induced itching, impaired arterial blood flow as from stage II, Raynaud’s Disease, severe sensory disorders, trophic disorders, hypersensitivity to cold.
